Beatrice Rana to serve as Artist in Focus at Philharmonie Luxembourg in 2026–27

Italian pianist Beatrice Rana has been named Artist in Focus for the 2026–27 season at Philharmonie Luxembourg, where she will appear in five concerts across the season. The residency will include solo, orchestral and chamber performances, with collaborators including Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Daniel Harding, Leonidas Kavakos, Sol Gabetta and Veronika Eberle.

The Philharmonie described Rana as “the Italian piano sensation” whose residency will range “from virtuosic orchestral hits to chamber classics.” In comments published by the institution, Rana said that a residency offers “a proper conversation over the course of a year” with both the venue and its audience.

The series will begin on 6 October 2026 with a solo recital featuring music by Johann Sebastian Bach, Muzio Clementi and Robert Schumann. The programme includes Bach’s Italian Concerto, a work highlighted as part of the Philharmonie’s broader Bach focus for the season.

Rana will also perform Johannes Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe under Nézet-Séguin in November 2026. Another orchestral appearance will reunite her with the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia and Harding in a programme featuring Sergei Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 3 alongside works by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and Jean Sibelius.

Born in Lecce, Rana studied in Italy before continuing her training in Hanover. She came to international attention after winning first prize at the Montreal International Music Competition and receiving the silver medal at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition.
