Video of the week: Leonidas Kavakos plays Bach’s Sarabande in B minor

After Brahms’s Violin Concerto, a moment of solo Bach.

Leonidas Kavakos performs the Sarabande from Bach’s Partita No. 1 in B minor, BWV 1002, as an encore at Frankfurt’s Alte Oper on 14 November 2025.

The stately dance offers an intimate close to a programme in which the Greek violinist performed Brahms’s Violin Concerto with the Frankfurt Radio Symphony under Manfred Honeck. With its measured pace and richly voiced chords, the Sarabande draws the ear towards the expressive possibilities of a single, unaccompanied violin.
