Winners take the stage at the Tenor Viñas gala concert

The 62nd edition of the Tenor Viñas International Singing Competition concluded with a gala concert at Barcelona’s Gran Teatre del Liceu. The event featured performances by this year’s laureates, accompanied by the Orquestra Simfònica del Gran Teatre del Liceu under conductor Daniel Montané and pianist Marcos Madrigal. The program included works by Donizetti, Verdi, Mozart, Wagner, and Rachmaninov.
The South Korean soprano Gloria Jieun Choi was awarded the First Grand Prize, which includes €30,000, a contract with the Gran Teatre del Liceu, and a commemorative gold-plated silver medal. The Second Prize went to Romanian baritone Mihai Damian, who received €15,000 and a silver medal. British tenor Robert Lewis earned the Third Prize, including €11,000 and a bronze medal.
The Russian tenor Egor Zhuravskii won fourth prize, and the Americans Luke Norvell and Michael Butler won fifth and sixth.
This year’s competition attracted 645 participants from 61 countries. After the preliminary rounds, 65 singers advanced to the final stages held at the Conservatori Liceu from January 19 to 22. The final round was on January 25 at the Gran Teatre del Liceu, where the winners were announced.
