Alim Beysembayev returns to Wigmore Hall with a program featuring Beethoven’s revolutionary Seventh Piano Sonata and Schumann’s delightful Kinderszenen (Scenes from Childhood). The program also includes works by Haydn, Scarlatti, and Brahms.

OVERVIEW
Alim Beisembayev, a Kazakh pianist born in 1998, began his studies in Almaty before training in Moscow and the UK, including at the Royal College of Music under Vanessa Latarche. He gained international recognition by winning First Prize at The Leeds International Piano Competition in 2021, along with the Medici.tv Audience Prize and Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Society Prize. His career highlights include performances with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic and BBC Symphony orchestras, as well as appearances at Wigmore Hall, Fondation Louis Vuitton, and the BBC Proms. In 2022, Warner Classics released his debut album featuring Liszt’s “Transcendental Études”, earning critical acclaim.

Joyce DiDonato joins Sir Antonio Pappano and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra for an evening of obsessive love in two powerful works. She performs Camille Claudel: Into the Fire, Jake Heggie’s poignant song cycle written for her, inspired by the tragic life of the sculptor and muse. The program also features Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique, a vivid depiction of all-consuming passion and opium-induced visions.

Jake Heggie is a celebrated American composer known for his operas, including “Dead Man Walking“ and “Moby-Dick“, as well as over 300 art songs. His works have received international acclaim, with performances around the globe. Heggie actively collaborates with leading artists and continues to mentor emerging composers and musicians. He is recognized for championing women’s voices in his compositions and exploring underrepresented stories, particularly through works like “Songs for Murdered Sisters” and ”Before It All Goes Dark.”
