On 22 February 2026, Boris Giltburg turns to one of the central monuments of the keyboard repertoire: The Well-tempered Clavier, Book I by Johann Sebastian Bach. The recital, presented live from Wigmore Hall, is already sold out in the hall itself, but will be streamed worldwide free of charge.

Following acclaimed explorations of Beethoven and Rachmaninov, Giltburg now immerses himself in Bach’s inexhaustible compendium of preludes and fugues. Beyond the beauty of his tone and the clarity of his voicing, the pianist is widely recognised for shaping long narrative arcs, bringing a sense of unfolding drama and inner coherence even to the most intricate contrapuntal writing.

Book I of The Well-tempered Clavier traverses all 24 major and minor keys, offering a kaleidoscope of styles, characters and compositional techniques. In the intimate acoustic of Wigmore Hall, this live performance promises both architectural clarity and expressive depth.

The concert will be available free online, with Wigmore Hall encouraging voluntary donations to support its ongoing live-streaming programme.
