Double cancellation at LA Phil concert

The Los Angeles Philharmonic has announced a significant change to its concert scheduled for February 1, as both conductor Michael Tilson Thomas and pianist Yuja Wang have withdrawn due to illness.
In their absence, Finnish conductor Susanna Mälkki and Canadian pianist Jon Kimura Parker will step in, with Edwin Outwater also joining the lineup. The concert, originally planned as a celebration of Tilson Thomas, will proceed with modifications to the program.
As a result of these changes, Poulenc’s Sonata for Four Hands and Tilson Thomas’ You Come Here Often? have been removed from the evening’s repertoire. However, the remaining program will continue as planned.
The revised program will feature Michael Tilson Thomas’ Agnegram, marking its first LA Phil performance, followed by Debussy’s Ibéria before intermission. The concert’s second half will include Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue (Original Jazz Band Version) and Britten’s The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra, Op. 34.
The LA Phil thanked Mälkki, Outwater, and Parker for stepping in on short notice to ensure the performance continues.
