Adélaïde Ferrière I Percussionist

French percussionist Adélaïde Ferrière has established herself as one of the most distinctive voices of her generation, combining a global performing career with a strong commitment to contemporary music. Described as “a phenomenon” by Le Monde, she has appeared in more than thirty countries, with engagements at venues such as the Philharmonie de Paris, the Mozarteum in Salzburg, and the Tokyo New National Theatre.

Her rise has also marked a shift in visibility for percussionists on the international stage. In 2017, Ferrière became the first percussionist ever to be nominated as Instrumental Soloist Revelation at the Victoires de la Musique Classique, where she was later awarded Instrumental Soloist of the Year in 2026. That trajectory has been reinforced by recent recognitions, including her participation in Deutsche Grammophon’s Rising Stars series and her selection for the Génération Spedidam programme.

Ferrière’s repertoire spans from Bach to contemporary composers such as Xenakis, Aperghis and Camille Pépin, reflecting a profile shaped by a sustained engagement with new music. She has performed as a soloist with orchestras including the Orchestre National de France and the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, working with conductors such as Matthias Pintscher and George Benjamin.

Her discography includes solo projects as well as collaborations across several labels, including Deutsche Grammophon, Évidence Classics, Mirare and Sony Classical. Her debut album, Contemporary (Évidence Classics, 2020), focuses on major works for solo percussion and received critical recognition from outlets including BBC Music Magazine and Le Monde, while other recordings document her work within chamber ensembles and contemporary music projects.

Alongside her solo career, she is active in chamber music as founder of the Trio Xenakis, and continues to expand the repertoire through premieres and collaborations with living composers.

In recent seasons, Ferrière’s international profile has continued to grow, with appearances across Europe, Asia, the Americas and Australia. In December 2025, she was invited to perform at the Nobel Prize banquet in Stockholm, presenting a world premiere by Jacob Mühlrad
