Winners announced at Basel Composition Competition 2025

The jury of the 5th Basel Composition Competition has announced the winners for this year’s edition:


1st Prize (CHF 60,000):
Qianchen Lu (2000, China) – Nine Odes to The Night

2nd Prize (CHF 25,000): Erqing Wang (1998, China) – The Gaze of Mnemosyne
3rd Prize (CHF 10,000):
Ramón Humet (1968, Spain) – Bird in Space

In addition, the competition introduced its first-ever Public Award (CHF 5,000), which was given to: Qianchen Lu (2000, China) – Nine Odes to The Night


The Basel Composition Competition, founded in 2003, continues to offer emerging composers a platform to present new works in contemporary classical music.
The final concert featured live performances of the winning compositions.
