Spanish violinist María Dueñas presents a vibrant interpretation of Paganini’s Caprice No. 9 in E Major “La Chasse” in the official music video for her upcoming album, Paganini: 24 Caprices. Set to be released on February 14, the album features Paganini’s iconic works alongside compositions inspired by him, including music by Berlioz, Kreisler, and contemporary composer Gabriela Ortiz.
“Paganini’s 24 Caprices are a milestone for every violinist,” Dueñas explains, noting their influence and the broader tradition of caprices in classical music.

OVERVIEW
Born in Granada in 2002, María Dueñas began studying violin at six and quickly developed her talent. After early training in Spain, she received a scholarship in 2014 to study abroad, moving to Dresden to attend the Carl Maria von Weber College of Music. She later continued her studies in Austria at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna and Graz under the mentorship of Vladimir Spivakov.
Dueñas has won numerous international violin competitions, including the Menuhin Competition and the Viktor Tretyakov Violin Competition, and she was selected as a BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist for the 2021–23 season. She has performed with major orchestras, collaborating with conductors like Gustavo Dudamel and Manfred Honeck.
She plays on the Nicolò Gagliano violin (ca. 1774) and the 1710 Stradivarius “Camposelice,” on loan from prestigious foundations.
