The Ensemble Intercontemporain has announced the appointment of Polina Lebedieva as its new assistant conductor. She will join the Paris-based ensemble under the direction of Pierre Bleuse in January 2026 for a two-year term.
Lebedieva has gained international recognition through her participation in major conducting competitions, including the Mahler Conducting Competition and the International Conducting Competition Rotterdam, where she reached the semi-finals. She is also a two-time laureate of the Prix Fabuleuse Signature, a Britten Pears Young Artist for the 2023–24 season, and an Askonas Holt Fellow.
Recent engagements include her debut with the Orchestre du Pays Basque earlier this month, which led to an immediate re-invitation, and forthcoming appearances with the Berner Symphonieorchester and the Lviv National Philharmonic in November.
Since its founding 49 years ago, the Ensemble Intercontemporain has supported a number of assistant conductors who went on to prominent careers, among them Frédéric Chaslin, Lucie Leguay, and Oscar Jockel.
