Martha Argerich paid a heartfelt tribute to pianist María Tipo, who passed away this week, during a concert in Turin on February 11. Argerich, who always regarded Tipo as a great pedagogue, expressed her deep admiration for her at the end of the recital.
Taking the microphone, she recalled seeing Tipo perform in Buenos Aires when she was very young and described her as “an extraordinary inspiration.” As a tribute, she played Schumann’s Kinderszenen.
