The Egyptian soprano performs one of Puccini’s best-loved arias against one of the world’s most extraordinary landscapes, offering a glimpse into her forthcoming album The Pyramids Recital.
Few settings could rival the grandeur of the Great Pyramids of Giza, and soprano Fatma Said makes full use of the iconic location in this beautifully filmed performance of O mio babbino caro from Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi. Directed by Sébastien Lefebvre, the video combines the intimacy of Lauretta’s celebrated aria with sweeping views of one of humanity’s most recognisable monuments.
Accompanied by Les Frivolités Parisiennes under Sammy El Ghadab, Said delivers a poised and lyrical interpretation that places the focus on the music while allowing the extraordinary Egyptian landscape to become an integral part of the experience. The result is less a conventional music video than a visual recital in which architecture, history and music coexist naturally.
The performance is taken from The Pyramids Recital, to be released on 9 October 2026 by Warner Classics in both digital and CD formats. The album reflects Said’s wide-ranging artistic interests, bringing together opera arias, German lieder, French chansons and celebrated Arabic songs in a multilingual programme recorded in front of the pyramids. The project also features Arabic instruments alongside the musicians of Les Frivolités Parisiennes, creating a distinctive dialogue between musical traditions.
