Bieito and Heras-Casado complete the Paris Ring ahead of two full November cycles

Götterdämmerung opens at the Opéra Bastille on 8 October, with Pablo Heras-Casado conducting, before the Paris Opera presents the complete tetralogy twice in November.

Calixto Bieito’s staging of Wagner’s Der Ring des Nibelungen reaches its conclusion on 8 October 2026, when his new production of Götterdämmerung opens at the Opéra Bastille. The performances, conducted by Pablo Heras-Casado, run until 18 October, completing the director’s cycle for the Paris Opera, begun in 2025.

The cast includes Andreas Schager as Siegfried, Tamara Wilson as Brünnhilde and Mika Kares as Hagen, alongside Johannes Martin Kränzle as Gunther, Brian Mulligan as Alberich, Sinead Campbell Wallace as Gutrune and Eve-Maud Hubeaux as Waltraute. Heras-Casado leads the Paris Opera’s orchestra and chorus.

Two complete cycles in November

The premiere sets the stage for the Paris Opera’s Ring Festival , which marks 150 years since the complete tetralogy’s first performance at Bayreuth in 1876. Bieito’s staging will be presented in its entirety twice at the Opéra Bastille, under Heras-Casado’s musical direction.

The first cycle comprises Das Rheingold on 6 November, Die Walküre on 7 November, Siegfried on 10 November and Götterdämmerung on 13 November. The second follows on 15, 17, 19 and 22 November, respectively.

Beyond the performances, the festival includes talks with artists and specialists, alongside an exhibition devoted to the Ring at the Palais Garnier’s Bibliothèque-musée de l’Opéra, organised with the Bibliothèque nationale de France.
