Bayreuth Festival 2026 sells out in 90 minutes

The Bayreuth Festival has sold out its entire 2026 edition in a record 90 minutes, according to an official announcement shared on social media. The online sale, held on Sunday, offered the last remaining tickets for the 150th-anniversary season. This appears to be the first time in many years that the Festival has sold out its full allocation of seats so quickly.

In its message on Instagram, the Festival described the demand as “a clear sign of how great the interest in our programme is,” noting that its newly introduced ticket packages were met with strong enthusiasm from both returning audiences and first-time attendees. Reactions on social media ranged from excitement among those able to secure seats to frustration from users who found no availability within minutes of the sale opening.

The 2026 edition marks Bayreuth’s 150th anniversary and features a broadened programme that includes the first Bayreuth staging of Rienzi, an AI-generated Ring project titled Ring 10010110, and a performance of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. These and other anniversary events were detailed in our earlier story published in July.
