Andris Nelsons and the Boston Symphony Orchestra have announced an upcoming album featuring Yuja Wang performing Shostakovich’s two piano concertos. The recordings are part of Nelsons’ decade-long Shostakovich project with the BSO, marking the 50th anniversary of the composer’s death.
In addition to the two concertos—written 24 years apart—the album will include six solo piano pieces from Shostakovich’s 24 Preludes and Fugues, Op. 87 and Op. 34. A pre-release track from the Second Piano Concerto is now available, with the full album set for release on May 2 in digital, CD, and vinyl formats.

This I have not heard for forty odd years. To hear it again brought tears to my eyes as it did then. I had been reading Solzetnizken st the time and found this poetic beauty in the music and words. I will not compare what my mind remembers. Please accept my sincere thanks for bringing me closer to reality. Yuja, BSO thank you
