Canadian pianist Jaeden Izik-Dzurko has emerged as one of the most compelling young artists of his generation, praised for the depth of his musical insight, expressive power, and refined technique. A laureate of several of the world’s most prestigious competitions, he was awarded the Gold Medal at the 2024 Leeds International Piano Competition and is a current Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellow. He also received the Grand Prize at the Concours Musical International de Montréal, marking a significant milestone in his rapidly ascending career.
He has performed widely across North America, Europe, and Asia, both as a recitalist and as a soloist with orchestras. His appearances include major concert halls and festivals, and he has collaborated with conductors such as Domingo Hindoyan, John Storgårds, and Joseph Swensen. In 2024, Warner Classics released his debut EP, which features his interpretations of Ravel and Scriabin recorded during the Leeds Competition.
Jaeden first gained international attention with consecutive first prizes at the Hilton Head International Piano Competition, the Maria Canals International Music Competition, and the Paloma O’Shea Santander International Piano Competition, where he was also honoured with the Audience Prize and the Chamber Music Award. These accolades helped solidify his reputation for combining technical precision with poetic sensitivity.
Born in Salmon Arm, British Columbia, and of Hungarian-Ukrainian descent, Jaeden began his formal studies at The Juilliard School under Yoheved Kaplinsky and continued at the University of British Columbia with Corey Hamm. He has also studied with Ian Parker and currently works with Jacob Leuschner at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold and Benedetto Lupo at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome.
In addition to his growing performance career, Jaeden is part of the Steinway Prizewinner Concerts Network, through which he has appeared in recital across Europe and Asia.
