Ralph Fiennes to direct Eugène Onéguine in the 2025–2026 Paris Opera season

The Paris Opera has unveiled its 2025–2026 season, which will include new productions, major revivals, and appearances by some of the world’s leading opera artists. Among the most anticipated events is Eugène Onéguine at the Palais Garnier, which marks the operatic directorial debut of Ralph Fiennes.
The production will feature Boris Pinkhasovich, Ruzan Mantashyan, Marvic Monreal, Bogdan Volkov, and Dmitry Belosselskiy. Musical direction will be shared between Semyon Bychkov and Case Scaglione, the latter making his debut at the Paris Opera.
Other new productions include Aida by Verdi, directed by Shirin Neshat, and Satyagraha by Philip Glass, choreographed by Bobbi Jene Smith and Or Schraiber, with Anthony Roth Costanzo in the cast. The company will also continue its staging of Wagner’s Ring cycle with Die Walküre and Siegfried, directed by Calixto Bieito and conducted by Pablo Heras-Casado.
The season showcases a remarkable roster of artists, including Anna Netrebko, Jonas Kaufmann, Sabine Devieilhe, Nicole Car, Saioa Hernández, Piotr Beczała, Freddie De Tommaso, Matthew Polenzani, Angela Meade, Thomas Hampson, Pretty Yende, Renée Fleming, and Roberto Alagna.
Repertoire highlights include La bohème, Tosca, Un ballo in maschera, Rusalka, Carmen, Nixon in China, La Cenerentola, Ariodante, Le nozze di Figaro, La finta giardiniera, and Ercole amante. The season also includes productions conducted by Domingo Hindoyan, Raphaël Pichon, Oksana Lyniv, Kazushi Ōno, Leonardo García Alarcón, and Kent Nagano, among others.
