It will publish classical music global news on a daily basis.
Moto Perpetuo is being launched as a digital publication that delivers timely and relevant news on the global classical scene. We aim to keep musicians, enthusiasts, and newcomers informed and inspired by connecting them to the worldwide artists, events, and innovations shaping this art form.
We view classical music as a living art form, and we distance ourselves from perspectives that associate the genre solely with the past, reducing concert halls to mere museums dedicated to preservation. Of course, innovation and tradition are inseparable; everything new is always built upon what has come before.
Therefore, our coverage will emphasise new compositions, innovations, and emerging musicians making their mark in the field without neglecting the rich history that has brought us to this point.
Classical music has always been a global domain where musicians transcended borders and exchanged genres, techniques, and languages. Today, technology has accelerated this process like never before. Therefore, we aim for global coverage, ensuring that every significant and high-quality event occurring anywhere in the world finds a place on our pages.
We have chosen English as our primary means of communication because it is the dominant language in interactions among musicians and institutions worldwide, facilitating inclusivity and accessibility in our coverage.
You, the readers, will play a fundamental role in this project. We look forward to your contributions by sending relevant news from your communities and respectful comments on our articles.
WHO WE ARE
The Editor, Damián Autorino, says that with Moto Perpetuo, he combines his passions, journalism and classical music. “My love for this art form extends beyond enthusiasm—I am also a chorister and an amateur pianist”, he says. “Before the launch of Moto Perpetuo, my career focused on international journalism in general-interest news. I spent several years in Atlanta, where I worked for CNN”, he adds.
The Digital strategy partner, Pancho Dondo, has worked with Autorino since they were teenagers. Dondo worked his entire life as a journalist. “In Moto Perpetuo, I dedicated myself, from moment zero to its general appearance, both in the design and in all the details linked to the language, the titles and the punctuation marks: if something defines the work that we have always done with Damián, it is our obsession with things well done”, he says.
