Marie Jacquot (conductor)
As she prepares to become the next Chief Conductor of the WDR Symphony Orchestra in 2026, Marie Jacquot returns to the Kölner Philharmonie with a monumental program centered on Bruckner’s Seventh Symphony. The work, one of the most radiant in the composer’s output, combines devotional lyricism with grand symphonic architecture—qualities that already define Jacquot’s conducting style.
The concert opens with Handel’s Organ Concerto in F major, interpreted by the French organist Thomas Ospital, followed by Jehan Alain’s Litanies, an ecstatic and deeply spiritual solo work. Together, these pieces echo Bruckner’s own background as a church musician, who famously treated the orchestra like an extension of the organ.
Presented by ARD Klassik, this live broadcast from Cologne offers audiences worldwide a glimpse of Jacquot’s artistic vision before she officially assumes her post.
