Wigmore Hall continues its tradition of high-level chamber music with a free live-streamed recital by violinist Liza Ferschtman and pianist Enrico Pace. This wide-ranging programme brings together works from the late 19th century to the present, offering an emotionally varied and technically demanding journey through expressive sound worlds.

The concert opens with Ysaÿe’s Poème élégiaque, followed by a selection of Shostakovich’s Preludes, arranged for violin and piano. Britten’s Suite, composed early in his career, blends playfulness with intensity, while Mark Simpson’s An Essay of Love, written during the 2020 lockdown, explores emotional extremes in a contemporary language. The recital concludes with the Sonata in A by Franck, a cornerstone of the violin repertoire and originally composed as a wedding gift for Ysaÿe.

Offered for free on YouTube and Wigmore Hall’s website, this concert will remain available in the hall’s online archive after the live broadcast.
