Streaming live from the Philharmonie de Paris, pianist Lang Lang presents a recital of works by Fauré, Schumann, and Chopin, in a program that explores contrasting shades of Romantic expression.
The evening opens with Fauré’s Pavane, performed in its original piano version, followed by Schumann’s Kreisleriana, a set of eight highly imaginative and dramatic pieces inspired by the fictional character Johannes Kreisler.
After the intermission, Lang Lang turns to Chopin, performing a selection of Mazurkas and the Polonaise in F-sharp minor, Op. 44—a piece that blends lyricism with power and nationalistic spirit.
This recital highlights the pianist’s interpretive range, from the lyrical elegance of Fauré to the stormy contrasts of Schumann and the expressive complexity of Chopin.
