The closing concert of the 2025 Verbier Festival brings together two audience favourites in a high-voltage evening of Romantic power. Khatia Buniatishvili, known for her theatrical flair and fearless pianism, takes on Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1, one of the most iconic and virtuosic concertos in the repertoire. From the thunderous opening chords to the lyrical central movement and the explosive finale, Buniatishvili promises a performance full of contrasts and intensity.

In the second half, Paavo Järvi leads the Verbier Festival Orchestra in Mahler’s First Symphony, the “Titan,” a youthful and bold work that blends symphonic tradition with innovation. From pastoral landscapes to funeral marches based on nursery rhymes, Mahler’s symphony opens the door to a new musical world — and Järvi’s Mahler is always one to watch.
