A chicken, a harpsichord, and AI — Justin Taylor revives Rameau

🎼 Music from the album La Famille Rameau (Alpha Classics, 2021)

Few classical music videos are as imaginative—or as surreal—as this one. In Justin Taylor’s rendition of La poule, one of Jean-Philippe Rameau’s most famous harpsichord pieces, a baroque chicken comes to life through the lens of AI-generated visuals and creative digital art. Directed by Gaultier Durhin and produced by Kling using Photoshop and Midjourney, the video blurs the line between music video, visual essay, and futuristic fantasy.

The performance is part of Taylor’s 2021 album La Famille Rameau, which explores the extended Rameau family tree. Alongside celebrated works like La Livri, L’Égyptienne, and the Nouvelle Suite in A minor, the album includes rarities by Claude-François Rameau (Jean-Philippe’s son) and Lazare Rameau (his nephew). The result is both musically rich and historically revealing.
