Pianist Georgijs Osokins performs Fragile e conciliante from Arvo Pärt’s Lamentate (in his own piano transcription), filmed in Lithuania in July 2025 to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The video was shot in Vilnius and at the Ignalina nuclear power station, a symbolic setting that underlines the work’s themes of fragility and reflection.
The recording anticipates Osokins’s debut album for Deutsche Grammophon, For Arvo, which will be released to celebrate Pärt’s 90th birthday on 11 September 2025. The pianist recorded on a century-old Blue Steinway, aiming to capture an unparalleled depth of sound in works that embody Pärt’s spiritual and emotional universe.
The project was produced by Eugene Wintour-Irverstag and filmed under the direction of Jules Roux, with sound engineering by Philipp Nedel. The production involved Lithuanian crews at Šv. Mykolo studija, with the support of the Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant.
