Few composers command the same global reverence as Arvo Pärt, whose 90th birthday has become an occasion for worldwide celebrations. His music, balancing simplicity and depth, continues to touch listeners with its sense of both intimacy and eternity.

Since its founding in 1981, the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir has been inseparable from Pärt’s legacy, working closely with him to refine interpretations of his choral works. In April 2025, under the baton of founder Tõnu Kaljuste, the ensemble paid tribute with a concert at the Philharmonie de Paris, now streaming on Stage+.

The programme traverses some of Pärt’s most iconic scores, from the radiant Berliner Messe and Summa to the meditative Kanon Pokajanen. Works such as Magnificat, Nunc dimittis, and The Deer’s Cry further highlight his spiritual vision.

With Kadri Toomoja on organ, and captured on film by Christophe Boula in a production by Heliodor Productions, the performance offers a compelling portrait of a composer whose music remains profoundly rooted in the human spirit.
