Dalia Stasevska extends BBC Symphony Orchestra contract

The BBC Symphony Orchestra (BBC SO) has announced that Dalia Stasevska will continue as its Principal Guest Conductor until September 2027. Stasevska, who first assumed the role in 2019, was the first woman appointed to this position in the orchestra’s history.

Since joining the BBC SO, Stasevska has led the orchestra in key performances, including tours in Japan, Germany, and the UK, as well as notable appearances at the Barbican Hall and the BBC Proms. In 2023, she conducted the First Night of the Proms, a highlight of the orchestra’s season. She has also been involved in recording projects, such as the album Dalia’s Mixtape, which features a selection of contemporary works performed with the orchestra.

Born in Kyiv and raised in Finland, Stasevska trained at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, specializing in conducting. Beyond her work with the BBC SO, she holds the position of Chief Conductor of the Lahti Symphony Orchestra and Artistic Director of the International Sibelius Festival.
