The Czech Philharmonic, led by conductor Alain Altinoglu, presents a program that moves from high-energy Romanticism to the shimmering textures of early 20th-century French music.
The concert opens with Berlioz’s Roman Carnival Overture, followed by Mendelssohn’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in G minor, performed by Beatrice Rana. Known for its compact structure and immediate energy, the concerto showcases lyrical writing and virtuoso piano passages.
After the intermission, the orchestra performs another work by Berlioz—the Royal Hunt and Storm from Les Troyens—and concludes with Ravel’s Suite No. 2 from Daphnis et Chloé, composed for the Ballets Russes and celebrated for its vivid orchestral color and atmospheric power.
