The Hungarian conductor Adam Fischer has announced the cancellation of his upcoming performances scheduled for November and December 2025 in Hamburg and Vienna. The news was shared directly by the conductor through a personal statement posted on Instagram on Thursday.
Fischer explained that he is currently in hospital receiving treatment following a serious fall. In the message, he reassured his followers that he is “doing well under the circumstances” but will require time to make a full recovery, asking the public for understanding.
Fischer, born in 1949 in Budapest, is one of Europe’s most respected conductors. He is the General Music Director of the Austro-Hungarian Haydn Orchestra, Chief Conductor of the Danish Chamber Orchestra, and Principal Conductor of the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra, positions he has held for many years and which appear consistently across his official biographies.
Further details about the affected programmes have not been announced.
